Meet Tanya
AVERY CO-FOUNDER | CLINIC DIRECTOR
Hello! Welcome!
I’m Tanya and I’m a Registered Psychologist, Permanent Professionally Certified Teacher and mom. I have more than 25 years’ combined experience as a teacher, learning strategist, guidance counselor, public educator, advocate and school psychologist.
I have worked extensively with a range of learners, from twice-exceptional gifted children to those with mood and anxiety disorders. My areas of expertise are Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Learning Disabilities (LD) —Dyslexia in particular.
I am incredibly passionate about helping kids find success through the assessment process. I am equally as driven to help parents and teachers learn new support methods. In addition to assessment, I am a coach and educator to teachers and educational specialists.
Throughout my career, I’ve incorporated my unique abilities and personal experiences as a teacher, parent and a psychologist with my professional skills and practice. I approach struggling students and families from a place of empathy, insight and expertise to set them up for success.
I surpassed 3,000 hours of psychology training at Calgary’s Foothills Academy Society, one of the most renowned in the field, under the supervision of a skilled assessment psychologist.
As a Parent Coach for the Centre for ADHD Awareness Canada (CADDAC), I help children and families address behaviour associated with ADHD to improve relationships at home. I am a member of the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) and the Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit Disorder (CHADD).
I am also a Sessional Instructor at the University of Calgary, where I teach about Learning Disabilities as part of the Masters of Education program.
