Sensory Tools to Create Calm
For some children, noisy, bright or chaotic environments can be overwhelming.
Sensory toys for autism and other disorders include fidget spinners and chew necklaces. Weighted blankets and vibration cushions are sensory tools to also help kids create their own calm.
Use these tools proactively (before a meltdown), reactively (when your child is overstimulated), or as a regular part of situational transitions.
Involve your child in choosing sensory tools, and create kit for school, home or car rides.
Sensory regulation isn’t about avoiding challenges, but equipping kids to handle them with confidence.
