Academic Coaching

Coaching Session

In these coaching sessions, students develop a toolbox of learning strategies. These personalized tools and approaches help students understand, remember and use what they’re learning. Through one-on-one coaching, each student develops strategies to fit their unique needs: organizing their thoughts, managing their time, or finding new ways to approach assignments.

These strategies build confidence, strengthen academic skills and make learning less overwhelming.

We break down approaches such as :

  • Active reading strategies

  • Memory techniques

  • Time management strategies

  • Test preparation and test-taking techniques

  • Note-taking methods

  • Summarization and paraphrasing skills

Accountability Session

An accountability session is a dedicated block of time where you work alongside another person (virtually) to create structure, motivation, and shared focus. This approach is also known as body doubling, a common strategy for neurodivergent folks to get things done. The simple act of working with someone, even quietly, can make a big difference in productivity and follow-through.

We create a supportive virtual environment that provides:

  • External accountability without judgment

  • Structure and motivation to stay on task

  • A neurodiversity-affirming approach that honours different work styles

  • Affordable and flexible support, especially during busy study periods

Each online session begins with a short check-in to set your goals, followed by quiet, independent work time,. The session ends with a brief reflection to celebrate what you’ve accomplished.

Post-secondary Transitioning

Starting post-secondary studies can feel overwhelming, especially when you're figuring everything out at once. I offer one-on-one support to students who want guidance as they begin their academic journey.

Together, we can walk through the steps to starting school, get clear answers to your questions, and prepare for conversations with instructors, academic advisors and accessibility staff.

Funding Guidance

Beginning post-secondary studies is stressful, and finding ways to fund your education can feel overwhelming. I offer step-by-step guidance to:

  • find appropriate funding opportunities

  • help you understand grant requirements

  • ensure you provide the correct documentation

Post-secondary students with disabilities may be eligible for financial assistance, depending on individual needs and supporting documentation:

  • Canada Student Grant for Students with Disabilities (CSG-D)
    Up to $2,800 in funding

  • Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment for Students with Disabilities (CSG-DSE)
    Up to $20,000 in funding

To qualify for the CSG-D or CSG-DSE, you must:

  • apply for a student loan

  • submit documentation about your disability and related learning barriers

Students may also benefit from the Assistive Services and Equipment Grant, and I can help navigate the application process. Together, we explore your eligibility for these assistive supports and the funding requirements.

These sessions also prepare students to meet with post-secondary accessibility advisors.
